PRESS RELEASE

A very widely publicized Mushaira on Radio, TV and paper media in honor of Mr. Johar Chinioty was arranged by the Asian Writers Guild Canada on 6.1.2002 at Ellesmere Community Centre. A good number of Writers, Poets, Authors, Radio, TV personalities, Editors and men of letters participated. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Ashfaq Hussain, a distinguished Urdu loving personality. Mr. Parveen Verma, Deputy Consulate General of India was the Chief Guest, whereas Mr. Jim Karyginnus Member of Parliament, Mr. Karamat Ghauri Retired Ambassador of Pakistan and Mrs. Sherene Shah Councilor were the Guest of Honor. Mr. Nazem Maqbool prominent Urdu poet compered the proceeding of Mushaira and introduced the participants to Mr. Johar, who was appearing on the stage for the second time after the year 1990. In the initial start of the proceedings Mr. Johar Chinioty spoke about Mr. Karamat Ghauri, Mrs. Abida Karamat and Ashfaq Hussain, who remain very much close to him and vindicated about their high profile, status in Urdu poetry. Mr. Toni Zekod, special invitee an established English Writer highlighted literary experiences and his immense love for Urdu language. Mr. Maqbool then requested Mr. Johar to inaugurate the Mushaira with his Ghazals which was complied and the attendees applauded repeatedly Murkarar Mukarar. The next poet whose poetry is very rich and who is much acknowledged as idealistic poet i.e., Mr. Kaleem Zafar recited his two Ghazals. To place Mr. Kaleem Zafar in the start, was his continued insistense to go home because of his domestic obligations. His poetry was really a classic poetry. Mrs. Nasreen Sayed in her touchy silky voice recited two Ghazals which were much appreciated. Mrs. Abida Karamat, a veteran poetess recited her four Ghazals but attendees continued insisting one more, one more. This great poetess stole away the Mushaira so like Mr. Akhtar Asaf, Mr. Aslam Gora Taher, the two young poets read their modern poetry which itself were self explanatory. Mr. Arshad Usmani a well known personality delivered few couplets and ghazals. Mr. Masood Khans poetry was much symbolic to the atmosphere of the Mushaira. Sayed Iftekhar Haider also read one philosophical ghazal with much emotions.

Mr. Karamat Gauri, Ashfaq Hussain and Johar Chinioty, the three poets robbed the Mushaira and their classic poetry was certainly an addition to the modern ghazal. The Mushaira continued for more than 3 hours because the meeting hall was very much conducive for the serene atmosphere required for the poets. The management of the Asian Writer Guild conveyed thanks to all the attendees with vote of special thanks to Mr. Johar Chinioty.
